SpeakComputer Text to Speech Reader.

The text to speech reader is a lightweight text editor with text to speech capabilities. You can use the text to speech reader to read documents aloud using most natural sounding text to speech voices. You can also sue the export feature to export text to MP3 files for later playback on your MP3 player.

Starting the Text to Speech Reader.

On your desktop, double click the SpeakComputer icon.

This open the main SpeakComputer software selector. Click on the Reader button to launch the text to speech reader.

The Reader starts with the window looking as below.

You can now start typing and when you are ready, simple click on the speak button and the software will read the text out aloud. If you just want the software to read certain text, simple select the text within the document and click Speak.


To open a new tabbed document, simply click on file file menu and click "New Speaker...".

From the file menu you can also see your recently viewed, created of modified documents.

You can select from pre-installed text to speech voices which voice you want the software to read. Please remember. All Text to Speech voices are language specific. That means an English Text to Speech voice only speaks English and a Spanish Text to Speech voice only speaks Spanish. You need to purchase the language specific Text to Speech voice you require. Windows Vista includes a great natural sounding voice named "Microsoft Anna". Microsoft Anna is an English speaking voice thus only speaks English.

Text to Speech software reads any text in the text area. Select from a list of installed voices which voice to use


You can use the echo keys feature, to read aloud the keys pressed as you type. The echokeys feature combined with the zoom feature can be helpful if you suffer from visual disabilities.

Right clicking on the text to speech text area exposes the handy context menu. From this menu you can choose to highlight the spoken word, export text to MP3 or WAV files, cut, copy and paste etc.
